Wow. Just wow. I absolutely loved this book, though I’m surprised I don’t have more to say about it. It’s exquisitely written and profoundly frustrating in its refusal to answer the questions you collect throughout the novel. Unlike typical dystopias with erratic plots and imagined conflicts, this one is silent and remote, creating an eerie atmosphere. This eeriness stems from my own inability to fathom being comfortable on a plain alone, devoid of noise and haunted by terror of endless isolation. The protagonist, however, knows no such difference, adding a unique layer of intrigue and making the narrator all the more fascinating.
